Day 1: Depart from the United States (you can ask us to include international flights if you choose).

2:
Arrive at
Delhi
at night.
Our services begin here. You are greeted at the airport by our
agent or your Tour Director, and then ushered to a waiting vehicle and
its driver. You
are driven to your hotel where you are assisted with your check in. The
next days plans are briefly reviewed and the agent/Tour Director
hands over
travel documents such as your air tickets and hotel vouchers to you.
Day
3: Delhi.
You are at leisure in the morning to recuperate from you international
flight.
Afternoon – A half day city tour of New Delhi that begins with a
drive past Safdarjang’s Tomb (1753 AD) while driving to the Qutab Minar
(1193 A.D.) which is a striking medieval tower of victory of Persian
architectural style and is 73 m high. Within the Qutab complex, amidst
the ruins of Quwat-ul-Islam mosque, stands the Iron pillar which has
stood the vagaries of weather and has not rusted over 1500 years. Later,
visit the Tomb Moghul Emperor Humayun and then drive through Lutyens New
Delhi which includes the Embassy area (Diplomatic enclave), Government
buildings, India Gate, a golden domed Sikh Temple (Bangla Sahib
Gurudwara), Birla Temple and Connaught Place, which is New Delhi’s main
shopping area.
Day
4:
Delhi -
Agra.
Board the early morning (6 am) Express train - two hour journey -
to Agra. Half day tour of Agra – The tour starts with a visit to
Sikandra for a tour of the beautiful tomb of the greatest Moghul ruler,
Emperor Akbar. It includes a visit to Agra Fort, the original red
sandstone fort built by Moghul Emperor Akbar in 1565, whose maze of
courtyards, a marble mosque and private chambers reflect the grandeur of
the Mughal Empire.
There is a break for lunch.
Afternoon - Visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the
incomparable Taj Mahal. The world’s greatest monument dedicated to love
was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1653 as a memorial to his queen
Mumtaz Mahal. This beautiful mausoleum in pure white marble took 22
years and 22000 craftsmen to build. Stay over for a sunset viewing.
Day
5:
Agra - Jaipur.
You can ask to take an optional sunrise visit of the Taj in the early
morning. Drive to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri. Stop at Fatehpur Sikri
for a tour. This deserted, red sandstone city, built by Emperor
Akbar, between 1570 and 1585, now glows in its magnificent past. Visit
the towering Bulund Darwaza (The Gate of Victory), which is set in the
south wall. In the northern part of the courtyard is the superb white
marble tomb of Shaik Salim Chishti, built in 1570. Legend says, Akbar
was without a male heir and he made a pilgrimage to this spot when the
saint foretold the birth of a son. In gratitude Akbar named his son
Salim. Arrive at Jaipur & check into your hotel.
Day
6: Jaipur.
Proceed for an excursion to Amber Fort & Palace, located 12 kilometers
from the center of the City. Arrive at the complex before 9 a.m. so as
to be able to partake in the elephant back ascent. The Fort was
originally built by Raja Mansingh and significant additions were made by
Sawai Jai Singh. One of the finest example of Rajput architecture, it
was the ancient capital of Kaisshawah rulers. Enjoy the ascent to the
palace on back of a brightly caparisoned elephant. Visit the chambers
and hallways of the Palace which are famous for their design and
decorations.
Afternoon
– you are at leisure. This is a good time to shop for Rajasthani
handicrafts and textiles if you are so inclined.
Evening
– Watch the show at your hotel (if available) and then drive to have
dinner with an Indian family at their home. Or drive to a cultural show
and dinner
Day
7: Jaipur.
Proceed for a half day city tour of the walled city of Jaipur, including
the magnificent City Palace. Visit the unique Jantar Mantar magnificent
stone observatory built by Raja Jai Singh in 1728. View the ‘Hawa Mahal’
(Palace of the Wind), the intriguing facade built (in 1799) to allow
royal ladies to view the city and bazaar from the windows. Continue the
tour to visit the City Palace, the former royal residence (a part of it
is still occupied by the Royal family and is not accessible) built in a
blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. This immense
complex also houses a number of museums that offer a large and
impressive collection of miniature paintings, costumes, and armory.
Afternoon
– you are at leisure.
Day
8: Jaipur - Jodhpur.
Drive to Jodhpur in the morning. Arrive at Jodhpur and check in to your
hotel.
Mehrangarh Tour
- The tour begins with a visit to The Mehrangarh Fort. This formidable
hilltop fort is the one of the most impressive in Rajasthan. Many gates
lead into the Fort and the main gate is the "Lahapol", with a huge iron
gate. At the side of this gate there are 15 hand prints, the "Sati
Marks" of Maharaja Man Singh’s widows, who threw themselves upon his
funeral pyre in 1843 when the Fort was besieged. Inside the fort, visit
the palaces Moti Mahal or "Pearl Palace", the Sukh Mahal or "Pleasure
Palace" and the Phool Mahal or "Flower Palace". The tour also includes a
visit to the "Jaswant Thada", a marble cenotaph built in 1899 as a
memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
Day
9: Jaipur - Jaiselmer.
Drive to Jaiselmer in the morning (5 hours approximately). Arrive in the
evening and check in to your hotel.
Afternoon
-
visit the "Havelis" of Jaiselmer. Wealthy merchants built their
exquisite homes with profusely carved stone facades. The famous ones are
the Patwon Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli.
Day
10: Jaiselmer.
Start your day with a City Tour. The tour begins from "The Jaisalmer
Fort", built in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal.The fort crowns 80 meter high
Trikuta hill. Still inhabited, there are palaces and bazaars within the
fort walls. The Fort has 99 bastions around the circumference.
Other attractions include Ganga Sagar Tank and Museum, once the water
supply of the city, housing many small temples and shrines. A wide
variety of water birds flock here in winter.
There is a break for lunch.
Afternoon -
Excursion to Sam for a camel safari and to watch the shifting sand
dunes- about 45 kms from Jaisalmer – duration about four hours from
Jaisalmer to Jaisalmer.
Day
11: Jaiselmer – Jodhpur.
You are at leisure this morning and your Tour Director
/guide and driver are
available from 8:30 am onwards. Check out of the hotel by noon and head
back to Jodhpur after an early lunch. Arrive at Jodhpur and check in to
your hotel.
Day 12: Jodhpur – Udaipur.
Drive to Udaipur via Ranakpur. Tour the famous 15th Century Jain
Temples, located 90 km's north of Udaipur. The temples 29 halls are
supported by 1444 intricately carved pillars, and no two are of the same
design. There is an abundance of exquisite sculptures and friezes.
Arrive at Udaipur and check into your hotel.
Late afternoon - cruise on Lake Pichola. Visit Jag Mandir. You
can stop at Lake Palace for refreshments or an early lunch.
Day
13: Udaipur.
Start your day with a city tour, including a tour of the City Palace. At
this Palace complex, explore the rooms with mirrored walls and ivory
doors, windows with colored glass, inlaid marble balconies and the
peacock courtyard. Visit the temple of the Sun God, with its erotic
sculptures. Visit the Sahelion-ki-bari gardens and the local Museum.
Afternoon – you are at leisure to explore the beautiful city of
Udaipur.
Day
14: Udaipur - Delhi.
Fly
to Delhi in the morning. A half day city tour of Old Delhi that includes
visits to the Jama Masjid (1650 AD) which is the largest mosque in
India, and the amazing Red Fort (1639-48 – closed on Mondays) which was
the seat of the Moghul Empire for more than 250 years. Please note that
you are currently permitted into a very small part of the Red Fort due
to security reasons. You also visit the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi
(Raj Ghat).
Late Afternoon – You are at leisure.
Day
15: Delhi – international flight.
Check out of the hotel at noon. Car available from then on till assisted
check in at the international airport at night. Use this day for last
minute sightseeing and shopping - we can make recommendations.

16: Arrive in the United States.
