Delhi is shining.
India’s capital is gearing
up for the common wealth games in 2010. The signs are everywhere to be
seen. Metro lines are springing up, all famous monuments are coming
under the spotlight, a new domestic airport terminal has become
operational and the Delhi airport is getting its ‘Airport Village’.
This proposed project will have a multiplex, entertainment zone, F&B
outlets and a shopping arcade with multi-level car parks. Apart from
these, the Airport Village will also organise activities which showcase
Indian culture. The main goal of Delhi International Airport (DIAL) is
to develop the airport as a tourist destination. So when you are in
Delhi, keep a day for the Airport Village and be prepared to get the
taste of India from touchdown onwards.
Discoveries around the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal, India’s most
famous monument and the most extravagant monument of love which
the world has ever seen, never fails to amaze the eye with its
beauty. Studies of the Taj and areas around it indicate that the
original plans were more elaborate that what meets the common
eye today.
Shah Jahan actually intended to build two Taj Mahals. The second
one was meant to be his tomb and that was to in black marble.
Before he could execute this grand plan, he found himself
imprisoned by his son. Excavations across the |

Yamuna River prove this fact. Recent
excavations have also revealed that a garden called ‘Mehtab
Bagh’ grew across the river. This garden was supposedly an
oasis of fragrant flowers decorated all around with
pavilions, water fountains and pools reflecting the moods of
the passing clouds. This 25 acre garden is now an object of
study by historians and botanists from around the world. The
Archeological Survey of India plans to bring this garden to
its former glory very soon. A thing of beauty is certainly a
joy for ever.

Ranthambhore Tigress gets Life-Time
Achievement Award.
Tigers and fame are synonymous. India’s
maharajas protected them for hunting, Jim Corbett
immortalised his name in India’s history by shooting
man-eating tigers, independent India made it the national
animal and tiger conservation is the catch word for ensuring
survival of India’s diverse flora and fauna.
Ranthambhore, located in Rajasthan is one of India’s premier
national parks and is blessed with a healthy tiger
population. This amazing park has given millions of tourists
the rare privilege of seeing a tiger in the wild. The tigers
in Ranthambhore are celebrities in their own right and the
most famous among them is the tigress, ‘Machhli’.

|
This tigress aged 12
has given birth to nine so far, and is estimated that
more than 100 million visitors have seen her, including
the former American President Bill Clinton. Her
contribution to the long term survival of her own
species is incalculable. For her contribution to the
conservation of tigers and wildlife in India, she has
become the first tigress to win a Lifetime Achievement
Award. Our heartiest congratulations to tigress Machhli,
and may her tribe increase.
We, at Easy Tours of India also realise the importance
of being a part of India’s conservation effort, so we
are partnering with ‘Operation Eye of The Tiger’ a NGO
working with the people living on the boundary of
Corbett Tiger Reserve. Together we aim to help tiger
conservation, reduce carbon emissions and assist the
poor of India. Travel with ETI to see Machhli in her
natural environment and be a part of India’s tiger
conservation movement. |

Boston Globe:
In India, an increasingly popular tourist destination, hotel room rates
are up 48 percent this year nationwide and a whopping 69 percent in its
commercial capital of Mumbai, according to a recent Smith Travel report.
India has only about 100,000 hotel rooms nationwide, roughly the same
number as in New York City, though India has seven or eight times the
number of tourists. As a result, hotel rates in India will continue to
grow in 2008. An increase of "up to 35 and even 40 percent in the coming
year," would not be unrealistic, said Priscilla Campbell, an analyst for
American Express Business Travel, "especially at upper-tier properties
in major gateways such as New Delhi and Mumbai.
The Financial Express:
India has the
potential of becoming an ideal healthcare destination, a study
conducted by Exim Bank on healthcare tourism stated. India has
generated an estimated revenue of around $600 million from over five
hundred thousand international healthcare travellers, including
non-resident Indians that visited India in 2006, the study revealed.
The study also said that the promotion of healthcare tourism would
result in development of associated sectors—medical equipment
manufacturing, telemedicine, medical diagnostics, out-sourcing of
hospital administration and insurance.
“India has many advantages in the healthcare sector, which includes,
cost-effective healthcare solutions and availability of skilled
healthcare professionals, which has the potential to make the
country an attractive medical tourism destination,” Exim Bank said
in a release.
The increasing popularity of India’s traditional wellness systems
and rapid strides made in information technology is also an
advantage for the country, it added. The total market for healthcare
tourism is estimated to be in the range of 150 billion dollars
globally and India has less than one per cent share of it.
