The state of Assam is the gateway into the unexplored paradise of Northeast India.

Boarding the southern ranges of the eastern Himalayan Mountains, Assam is renowned for stunning views and verdant nature. Some of the Indian subcontinent’s greatest conservation success stories took place in Assam with both Kaziranga and Manas National Parks becoming UNESCO World Heritage sites in recent decades. The Asian Water Buffalo, Golden Languar, Indian Rhinoceros, and Bengal Tiger are just a few of the incredibly rare species that be spotted on safari in Assam.

Assam’s capital is the city of Dispur, but the small town is overshadowed by the both the history and infrastructure of the city Guwahati, the penultimate capital originally settled sometime in the 6th century. Guwahati‘s downtown area follows the wandering Brahmaptura River, and a number of ancient temples and other sightseeing opportunities can easily be reached from here.
