Puducherry (Pondicherry) is a Union Territory on the southeast coast of India. Comprised of non-contiguous French colonial territories that formerly existed on the Indian subcontinent, Puducherry is well-known for its distinctly Parisian charms.

The territory was eponymously named for its largest city, Puducherry, but this charming sea-side town brimming with French villas, wide boulevards, and lazy canals is almost always referred to as “Pondy.” The city boasts four beaches, numerous 18th century churches, and a truly splendid botanical garden. The local cuisines combine French culinary arts with local flavors and fresh seafood for truly inspired dishes.
