Port Blair

Port Blair, the Andaman Island’s largest city and capital, was originally established as a penal colony during India’s British colonial era. Though the penal colony was short lived, the city’s colonial heritage is mostly intact with a number of quaint Victorian Era buildings strewn throughout this beautiful port city. The Cellular Jail, a former British prison for political agitators, is arguably the island’s top sightseeing destination, but the real draw to Port Blair is the plethora of beaches and maritime activates that can be easily arranged on and in the Bay of Bengal. Snorkeling, sailing, diving, and excursions to and across the many of islands in the Bay of Bengal have become favored activities for travelers visiting Port Blair.
