13 Day Vacation
Delhi - Agra - Ranthambore - Jaipur - Udaipur

Detailed Itinerary - 13 Day Vacation

Day 1: Arrive at Delhi (most flights arrive either in the evening or at night). Our services begin here. You are greeted at the airport by our travel facilitator and then ushered to a chauffeur driven vehicle. You are then driven to your hotel where you are assisted with your check in. Our travel facilitator hands over travel documents such as your air tickets and hotel vouchers to you.

Scholars have traced Delhi's roots as a city to as far back as 1000 BC. Today, the city is divided into two sections, simply called Old Delhi and New Delhi. Currently, the metropolis has an approximate population of about sixteen million inhabitants. There has been a tremendous increase in the living standards of the average 'Delhite' in the past couple of decades, and every conceivable western luxury is easily available here. Luxury hotels, restaurants, and boutique stores abound, and emporiums offer handicrafts and other treasures from all corners of the nation.

There is amazing art and architecture all over Delhi; from the awe inspiring 16th century Mosques, palaces, forts, & other monuments of  the Moghul Empire, to the magnificence of countless other buildings and structures. These can range from structures many thousands of years old, to the numerous impressive bureaucratic buildings constructed during the "British Raj". Just a few examples are Moghul achievements like the massive Red Fort (and the city inside it) and the towering Qutab Minar; classic British era structures India Gate and Rashtrapathi Bhawan; modern edifices like the magnificent Bahai Temple; as well as numerous gardens designed and laid out many centuries ago.

New Delhi is the capital of India and the home of the largest bureaucracy in the democratic world. It is also the nations primary center for fine arts and other cultural endeavors. Architecturally and socially, the city is a diverse mosaic, woven with the tapestries of the cultures that have ruled and/or inhabited Northern India over the last eight centuries.

Day 4: Delhi – Agra. Board the early morning (6 am) Express train - two hour journey - to Agra.

Because it is the city of the incomparable Taj Mahal, Agra's many other historical and architectural monuments get far less attention than they deserve. There are magnificent palaces, forts, mausoleums, as well as various other similar structures. Spectacular historical reminders flourish all over this area, and you can choose how many of them you want to visit.

Visit four hundred and forty year old massive sandstone Agra Fort and it's many monuments; Jehangir Mahal, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, among others. Near there, tour the Itmad-Ud-Daulah and Agra's Jama Masjid. Just outside Agra, Fatehpur Sikri is a remarkably well preserved ghost city from the same time in history.

Agra is famous for its marble art & manufacturing of the same.

Day 5: Agra – Ranthambore. Check out of your hotel and proceed on the drive to Bharatpur to board the Express train for Ranthambore – a two and a half hour journey to Ranthambore. Arrive at Ranthambore in the evening and check in to your resort.

Covering an area of 410 sq. km, Ranthambore runs along the eastern spur of the Aravali mountain range until it meets with the Vindhya ranges. Ranthambore used to be the private hunting ground for the Royal family of Jaipur. In 1972 it was declared a Sanctuary and was brought under the Project Tiger Conservation platform.

Dry deciduous forest covers open valleys with lush vegetation around the lakes in this park, and there are open grasslands on the higher slopes. This varied flora supports a large number of animals including a variety of deer, the sloth bear, the shy caracal, leopards and of course, the tiger.

Day 6: Ranthambore. You are at leisure on this day. The only services provided by ETI are hotel room (including all three meals for Luxury & Deluxe Levels only).

ETI can provide various services upon request, such as chauffeur driven vehicles, guides, escorted sightseeing and recommendations / reservations for dining and entertainment.

Day 7: Ranthamobre – Jaipur. Check out of your hotel and proceed on the drive to Jaipur. Arrive at Jaipur and check in to your hotel.

Rajput culture considers pink to be the color of hospitality; hence the pink walls of  the Old City in Jaipur. Constructed in the early 18th century, Rajasthan's capital has broad and open streets and is very well laid out. Maharaja Jai Singh II, after whom it is named, was a great astronomer who also had Jaipur's Jantar Mantar designed and constructed. The king and his architect built Jaipur using ancient Hindu principles of civic planning and design, and created a city full of magical color and beauty.

A visit to Jaipur should be a must for every visitor to India; the multi hued garments and jewelry of the locals, the profusion of camels in everyday traffic, and the play of the sun's rays on the brightly colored walls of the inner city all combine to create an atmosphere unique to this city. Magnificent palaces, the seven city gates, forts, and other monuments sit unchanged amidst the bustle of a busy metropolis. Just outside Jaipur, the Royal Cenotaphs provide for an interesting visit.

Astonishing in it's simple ingenuity, the Jantar Mantar (Jaipur Observatory-built 1728) is a must see for anyone with an interest in astronomy. Maharaja Jai Singh was a great conqueror and an equally adept astronomer. The observatory he had designed and built is a marvel that, even today, intrigues and fascinates visitors to Jaipur.

Jaipur is famous for its carpets, jewelry, & handicrafts.

Day 10: Jaipur – Udaipur. Fly to Udaipur in the morning. Check in to your hotel upon arrival.

Udaipur was founded in the middle of the 16th Century by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia dynasty that ruled the area (called Mewar) for twelve centuries. Known as the "City of Lakes" and also as "The Venice Of The East", Udaipur lies amidst picturesque surroundings with beautiful lakes and the Aravali mountain range surrounding it. It is home to more grand palaces and other architecture than any other city in Rajasthan, a land full of magnificent palaces and forts.

City Palace is made up of a number of palaces that were built by a succession of kings, and it's massive presence dominates the area, with beautiful Lake Pichola and the exquisite lake palaces - Jag Niwas (now the famous Lake Palace Hotel) and Jag Mandir on one side, and the city of Udaipur on the other. You enter the Palace through a succession of huge gates, starting with the Hathi Pol (elephant gate). The palace now houses a vast museum, as well as an armory with a large selection of weaponry from a few centuries ago. There are beautiful gardens set amidst palaces that have architecture, design themes, and art that is both striking and completely distinct from each other.

Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, the hilltop monsoon palace (Sajjangarh) are all palaces that would be considered more than sufficient as a royal residence in most states. Each has it's own beauty, and were built by the Mewar kings at different times for different reasons. The Monsoon Palace's view encompasses the whole of Udaipur and it's surroundings, but the views from the islands in the lake and the City Palace is also pretty impressive.

There are a number of amazing temples, lakes, museums, and palace hotels (including the exquisite Lake Palace) in the city. There is even a surprisingly impressive collection of classic (American and European) cars that belonged to the rulers.

Udaipur is famous for its artists and paintings, including exquisite miniatures.
